Selfishnet is a portable application that does not require a standard installation. However, it does have specific prerequisites: : Compatible with Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11.

Before SelfishNet, ARP poisoning was an abstract concept in networking textbooks. This tool let a curious high school student see the effect in real-time. You could kick your own laptop off Wi-Fi, then watch the packet capture in Wireshark. It was a spectacular learning aid.

The most famous bug: If the user had a slow CPU (common with Pentium 4 laptops), the ARP spoofing thread would consume 100% of one core. The system would overheat, the network card would reset, and SelfishNet would crash—leaving the user disconnected while the rest of the network recovered.
