Open Matte 4k Fixed: Blade Runner 2049

In cinematography, "open matte" refers to a presentation that reveals more of the image at the top and bottom of the frame than the standard theatrical release.

Technically, Blade Runner 2049 was shot using digital cameras in a "taller" format. For theaters and home video, cinematographer Roger Deakins chose to crop the top and bottom to create a cinematic widescreen look.
