Tara Tainton

During her graduate studies, Tainton encountered the work of environmental justice scholars such as Robert Bullard and the concept of “just sustainability,” which insists that ecological stewardship must be pursued alongside equity, inclusion, and democratic participation. This framework became the ideological backbone of her later initiatives.

In 2002, Tainton won her first provincial women's championship, which earned her a spot at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Canada's national women's curling championship. She made her Scotties debut in 2002, representing Alberta.
